TRANSLATING THE BIBLE FOR 600,00 DEAF RESIDENTS

Education, Nicaragua

Nicaragua, the largest country in Central America, is home to 600,000 deaf residents. This population is largely illiterate and has no access to the Bible in a format that they can understand. Only 1 of the 400 plus Deaf Languages has a Bible translation!

Advocacy Team Leader: Katie DeVillez & Matt Belwood (Youth for Christ)

Partner: Pioneer Bible Translators

PBT translates the Bible and plants churches among the world’s least-reached people groups. Their focus is on the most challenging language groups — those who are marginalized, those who live in hard-to-access places, and those who are deaf.

Current Priority: Developing an Advocacy Team at Crossroads and discerning our role in this multi-year project to translate/film the Action Bible in Nicaraguan Sign Language.
