IS MOM WITH YOU IN YOUR HOME?
-Have Mom's favorite meal delivered.
Help the kids make it special by having them make homemade placemats and name plates for seats.
-"Mom is queen for the day!"
Turn the whole day into a game where mom is queen. Kids serve and clean. Dad's do what the kids cannot,
-Is Mom a coffee Drinker?
Make her a special mug! Best of all, send her out of the house for the afternoon as you and the kids make the mug.
-Need to use items you can likely find around the house?
Make her a special card.
-Give Mom a Mother's Day Coupon Book (and actually come through when she cashes in her coupons!)
-Have each child fill out a Mother's Day Questionnaire.
-Plan a family day out! (Give mom the option to stay home/go out by herself.)
IS THERE ANOTHER MOM IN YOUR LIFE?
• Overwhelmed Mom (while this could be anyone, think about families of first responders, teachers, health care professionals, single moms, etc.):
-Have Mom's favorite meal delivered.
Have your kids (or her kids) create placemats with encouraging words for mom.
-Is she a coffee Drinker?
Bring her favorite drink (and a gift card with a baby sitting coupon for her to cash in after quarantine).
• Lonely Mom (think about those who have lost children, widows, or those with children who are away):
-Create cards with encouraging notes (or have do it with your small group!)
-Send Mom flowers to let her know she is not forgotten (or chocolates if that is more her style)
-Arrange a “drive-by” Mother’s Day Parade honoring her as a mom
• Not sure who in your life might fall into one of these catagories? Call a local nursing home to see if there is anyone who seems particularly overlooked in this season.
